When Edwina plays with the full orchestra you can usually spot her at the front left of the stage with fellow violinists.
‘I love living in Hobart for its relaxed way of life, especially with young children. We can be at the top of the mountain, or at the beach in half an hour.’
Edwina joined the TSO in 2013, relishing opportunities such as our China tour in 2016/2017, guest leading our Live Sessions concerts and performing across regional Tasmania.
A graduate of the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), Edwina has masters degrees from the Queensland Conservatorium and University of Melbourne.
During her studies, she won the Gertrude Langer Ensemble Prize with her string quartet, Euphoria, and played with the Australian Youth Orchestra both here and overseas.
Edwina is from Bundaberg in Queensland and took up the violin when she was four. ‘I spent lots of time on a cereal box and ruler with a pencil as the bow’.
She studied human movement and arts before focusing on music. 'It was a round-about way to a career in music.'
A lot of Edwina's 'downtime' outside work is spent playing with her young kids.
