Accessibility

Everyone is welcome

We want our concerts to be enjoyable, welcoming and safe for all music lovers.

Our friendly Box Office team is here to help you find the best seat for your needs and to make your visit as comfortable as possible.

We’re proud to be part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, a globally recognised program supporting people with non-visible disabilities.

Planning your visit

Physical access

Our venues are accessible for wheelchair users and others using mobility aids.

Most TSO concerts are held at Federation Concert Hall and the TSO Studio, both accessed via the Hotel Grand Chancellor foyer.

  • The hotel is wheelchair accessible
  • There’s a drop-off area at the front of the hotel, leading directly to the foyer, Box Office and concert hall
  • Reserved wheelchair seating and easy-access seats are available inside the concert hall
  • Please contact the Box Office ahead of time so we can help you find the best spot.

Sunflower initiative

Supporting people with non-visible disabilities

We’re proud to be part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program.

The Sunflower symbol lets people discreetly indicate that they may need extra support, time or understanding.

Our staff are trained to recognise the Sunflower. We understand some concertgoers may need:

  • Help getting around the venue
  • Extra time when purchasing tickets
  • A quiet space if feeling overwhelmed.

Sunflower lanyards or badges are available at the TSO Box Office.

Assistance animals

Guide dogs and other registered assistance animals are welcome at all our venues. Please contact us to discuss how we can help.

Companion Cards

Companion Card holders receive a complimentary ticket for their companion.

Sensory support

Sensory kits are available at the Box Office and include:

  • Weighted blanket
  • Noise-reducing headphones
  • Sunglasses
  • Fidget toy

These packs are designed to help create a more comfortable and enjoyable concert experience.

Seating tips for comfort and access

Some seating areas may not suit all concertgoers. Please read these tips or talk to our Box Office staff for help choosing your seat.

Federation Concert Hall

  • Balcony seating may feel uncomfortable for people who dislike heights
  • Centre seats are harder to access than aisle seats
  • Balcony areas can get warm – we recommend wearing layers

In general

  • Seating is closely spaced
  • Audience members may need to shift for others to pass
  • Aisle seats offer easier access – we recommend these if you need extra space or want to be closer to entrances/exits
  • We will always have accessible seats available in venues, you can contact the box office for more details, or to reserve these seats
  • Our staff are always available to help you get to your seat safely and comfortably.

Relaxed performances

Relaxed performances are designed for kids aged 5–10 who:

  • Find it hard to sit still
  • Have sensory needs
  • May feel nervous trying something new

These informal 50-minute concerts are held in the safe and welcoming TSO Studio.

What to expect

  • Choose where to sit – on a chair, a favourite cushion that you bring, in a group, or by yourself – wherever is comfortable
  • Meet the musicians and their instruments
  • Enjoy the music
  • You’re free to move around, make noise, and come and go as you need

Visit the TSO Box Office inside the Hotel Grand Chancellor and we’ll guide you from there.
