When Christopher plays with the full orchestra you can usually spot him at the front left of the stage with fellow violinists.

‘I enjoy playing arrangements of popular songs in our Live Sessions and Obscura concerts – Metallica alongside Shostakovich and songs like Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze and The Beatles’ Come Together.’

About Chris

Originally from NSW, Chris is a graduate of Sydney University and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

While studying, he began performing with the Australian Youth Orchestra and later the Sydney Opera House Orchestra.

Chris joined the TSO in 1999 and has toured with the orchestra to Argentina, Canada, the US, Japan and China.

Career highlights: the TSO's international recordings, including a Bartók album recently released by Rubicon Classics in 2025.

During the Covid pandemic, Chris completed a Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics.

Pre-concert habits

Nap, practice, coffee, feed the cats, get to the concert hall one hour before. 'The small essential things in the same order.'
