About Eivind

Eivind has long been celebrated as one of Europe’s leading conductors. He was Chief Conductor and Artistic Leader of Norway’s Trondheim Symphony Orchestra for seven seasons from 2004, and was Principal Guest Conductor of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra from 2011 – 2013. He has also served as Concertmaster of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and as Artistic Director of the European Union Chamber Orchestra. He has been our Chief Conductor and Artistic Director since 2020.  

As Chief Conductor, he leads our orchestra by interpreting the music and guiding our musicians during rehearsals and performances. As Artistic Director, he leads the team that decides the music the orchestra plays, as well as which guest artists and conductors we invite to work with us. He is also responsible for artistic standards and overseeing the artistic vision and creative direction of the orchestra.

Did you know?

Eivind began his musical career as a violinist.

In his youth, he was a champion speedskater in Bergen, Norway.
