When Jackson plays with the full orchestra you can usually spot him at the back right of the stage with fellow brass musicians.
‘I was very fortunate to grow up in Orange, NSW – a place I still hold dear to my heart. It’s a fantastic place for an eager music student.’
As a trombonist, Jackson has performed with many of Australia’s major symphony orchestras and in several film and television soundtracks.
He is also an accomplished music arranger, which means he reworks existing music – ranging from classical to pop – for ensembles and orchestras.
Jackson studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), co-winning the academy’s prestigious chamber music competition in 2019 – the first time the prize went to a brass quintet.
A TSO regular since 2022, he became a permanent member of the orchestra in 2025.
When not playing music, Jackson is a colour analyst, helping people find the clothes, hair and makeup tones that best suit their natural features.
Favourite piece of music: Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4. ‘It was the first major orchestral piece I ever played when I was 12. I loved it then and I love it even more now.’
