When Anna plays with the full orchestra you can usually spot her at the middle right of the stage with fellow viola musicians.

‘I love being part of the TSO’s education program. Giving children an outlet to show their talents has many benefits including building confidence in and out of school and providing social experiences.’

About Anna

Anna’s career spans orchestral performance, chamber music, and music education, including tutoring in schools and with the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM).

She is passionate about community engagement and enjoys being part of the TSO’s education programs and other initiatives including Tasmania’s International Viola Festival.

Anna has performed regularly with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Philharmonic and as a guest with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.

A graduate of Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and an inaugural member of ANAM, Anna played with the Australian Youth Orchestra and Queensland Conservatorium Soloists.

Did you know?

Anna's dream gig is to travel as an orchestra to Norway. ‘We perform many pieces from our Chief Conductor’s homeland and it would be a dream to experience the music in Eivind’s part of the world’.

Transformative early music experience: 'When I was three I loved sitting next to my grandmother when she played the piano. I started playing the violin at the age of seven and, after avoiding the “squeaky” top string for too long, my childhood teacher gave me a viola to try – I never went back’.

Pre-concert habits

A banana sandwich. ‘It’s a nod to my Queensland childhood and I think it covers most of the dietary requirements’.

‘I also change into heels right before I go on stage. Our orchestra manager has to remind me to change out of my white sneakers!’
