Connecting through music and nature

A partnership between the TSO and Tasmanian Land Conservancy (TLC) aims to foster deeper engagement with the state’s incredible natural environment and musical artistry.

The not-for-profit organsations have a shared vision for deepening understanding and awareness of nature as a driver of creativity.

The TSO will offer members of the TLC community behind-the-scenes experiences such as access to rehearsals, backstage tours and opportunities to connect with musicians.

Some of TSO’s nearest and dearest will in turn have opportunities to learn more about nature conservation, including through guided reserve visits and informative talks from ecologists.

Additionally, the partnership allows for an exciting artist in residence program, allowing a musician, conductor or composer to spend time on a TLC reserve for ‘nature immersion and creative inspiration’.

‘We are looking forward to working together to combine the work of two great Tasmanian organisations to create beautiful, meaningful experiences,’ says Director of Development, Sarah Morrisby from the TSO.

Dr Kath Tuft, CEO of TLC, says both organisations are passionate about deepening people’s connection to nature and music.

‘It’s exciting to imagine the experiences we can create together – connecting people with Tasmania’s landscapes in new ways,’ she says.

In the longer term, the TSO and TLC will explore interesting collaborations including concerts set within nature reserves in Lutruwita / Tasmania.
