TSO musicians introduce children to the instruments of the orchestra in an interactive hour of music and fun. We’ll play classical hits that will get your students hooked on music for life!
This is the latest in our popular concerts for schools, which we take on the road for performances in halls and gyms across the state.

Jack Machin
Conductor & Presenter
Jack Machin, our Head of Schools and Community Projects, is an experienced teacher, school leader, conductor and musician. He has founded and led numerous youth ensembles and, as a musician, has performed with the Melbourne, Sydney and Queensland symphony orchestras. Jack was Principal Trombone with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra from 2003 to 2009.

First time bringing your class?
We love welcoming new people to our concerts! Here we answer some common questions about what to expect.
Easy! Just select Book Now on the event page, where you’ll be prompted to enter your school details, number of students and teachers, and any access requirements.
- Free concerts and events can be booked immediately with no credit card details required.
- Paid Schools concerts and events are booked via the same process and will be invoiced directly to your school after booking.
Once your booking is complete, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all relevant event information.
If your school or class is no longer able to attend, please notify the TSO Box Office as soon as possible. This allows places to be offered to other schools and helps us manage capacity and staffing.
Schools are responsible for providing appropriate supervision in line with Tasmanian Department of Education excursion guidelines.
As a minimum, TSO requires:
- Primary school groups: 1 teacher per 10 students
- Secondary school groups: 1 teacher per 15 students
Schools may choose to increase supervision based on their own risk assessment, student needs, or school policy.
TSO school concerts and events are presented at a range of venues across Tasmania. We always do our best to create an accessible environment for each event. You can see the accessibility information for each venue on the respective event page.
