More Words and Music (Schools)

Thursday 15 May 2025 10am, 11:30am
Brighton High School, Nipaluna / Hobart

Featuring the Mini TSO Orchestra.

Discover how words can shape music.

Words and music work together in many ways – whether it be in the title of a piece, the words used to describe a musical mood or how the text of a story can be illuminated by sound.

In this interactive concert students shape the performance by directing the musicians to play with a range of character and explore how words change the style and sound of a piece of music.

Meet the instruments or the orchestra and learn the basics of conducting in a fun concert setting.

Also in this concert is The Flying Orchestra, a musical telling of the whimsical book by Australian children’s author Clare McFadden with music by Joe Twist, arranger of the Bluey theme.

Note to schools that booked students into Words and Music in 2024; More Words and Music is a different and new concert.
