Open rehearsals are a great opportunity for secondary school students to see the rehearsal process of a professional orchestra in real time. Your students will see and hear how the conductor and the musicians work together to prepare the music for performance.
Held in Federation Concert Hall in Nipaluna / Hobart, this activity includes a welcome briefing about the music they will hear, and a What To Look For worksheet to help your students get the most out of the experience. This a rare behind-the-scenes opportunity for your music students to look inside the world of professional musicians. It might even spark an interest in a career as a conductor, member of production crew or another job in the arts!
Each open rehearsal lasts a maximum of 2.5 hours, with a 20 minute break. Rehearsal repertoire and end times are at the discretion of the conductor on the day.
This program is supported by the TSO Business Collective.
