Beethoven’s Violin Concerto
Beethoven Violin Concerto in D, Op 61
Mendelssohn Symphony No 3 in A minor, Op 56 ‘Scottish’
Eighteen-year-old Austrian violinist Leonhard Baumgartner won the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition in 2024, under the baton of TSO Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, Eivind Aadland.
Eivind immediately invited him to Tasmania to perform Beethoven’s radiant Violin Concerto in D. It demands both technical skill and poetic expression from the soloist, and Leonhard has both in spades.
Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 3, the ‘Scottish’, was inspired by the composer’s transformative journey through Scotland.
