We recommend that you notify your loved ones of your intention to leave a bequest to the TSO, in addition to seeking advice from a legal professional.

There are several ways you can leave a Bequest to the TSO, however there are three which are most common:

• Residuary Bequest
This is where you leave the remainder of your estate to the TSO once all your loved ones have been taken care of.

• Specific Bequest
You may wish to leave a specific amount of money, or an asset such as property or shares, to the TSO in your will.

• Percentage Bequest
You can choose to leave a percentage of your entire estate to the TSO, or a percentage of the residue of the estate once loved ones have been remembered.

Suggested wording for your Will

I, [insert name], give [indicate expressed percentage of estate, dollar amount and/or the item or property to be given] to TASMANIAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA FOUNDATION TRUST (ABN 29 136 095 566).
In relation to the gifts made to the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Foundation Trust I declare that:
a) the receipt of the authorised officer (Secretary, Treasurer or other proper officer or representative) for the time being, of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Foundation Trust is sufficient discharge to My Executor; and
b) if the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Foundation Trust cannot receive this gift, then that gift is to be made to an organisation that My Executor consider most nearly fulfils the objects I intend to benefit, in their absolute discretion.

The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Foundation Limited, (ACN 131 401 440), a company limited by Guarantee, is Trustee of the TSO Foundation Trust. The registered office is at 1 Davey Street Hobart 7000.
The TSO Foundation Trust, ABN 29 136 095 566, is a Public Ancillary Fund for taxation purposes.

  As a not for profit organisation we rely on the generosity of our donors to ensure that we continue to contribute to the cultural landscape of Tasmania, Australia, and internationally. Bequests and endowments play a vital role in our financial plan allowing us to nurture the next generation of musicians and music-lovers, and continue to bring our audiences innovative programming and world-class performances.

• What are the tax implications involved in leaving a bequest?
  We recommend consulting with a legal professional to discuss the tax implications of leaving a bequest to the TSO.

• Can my bequest to the TSO remain anonymous?
  You may choose for your bequest to remain anonymous should you wish, and conversations surrounding your bequest shall remain in confidence. Notifying us that you have left a bequest to the TSO provides us the opportunity to show our gratitude during your lifetime.

• Can I direct where my bequest to the TSO is to be spent?
  If you are passionate about a specific area of the TSO, we would love to discuss how we can best apply your gift to ensure that your kindness is remembered long after you have gone. If the area or project changes or no longer exists, the TSO will ensure your gift goes towards the most similar.
