Voices en Masse is back in 2026! Also returning is Simon Halsey, world-renowned choral director. You’ll learn, rehearse and perform Durufle’s Requiem with Simon Halsey, The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and TSO Chorus as well as fellow singers from around Australia.  

With the orchestra, chorus and soloists on stage and you, the community choir, in the stalls, the hall will be enveloped with voice and music – it’s pure surround sound.   

Whether you're a shower singer or a choir veteran, we invite you to lend your voice to the collective and perform with the pros.

REHEARSALS

Friday 10 Apr, 7pm – 10pm: Piano rehearsal with Simon Halsey

Saturday 11 Apr, 10am – 12:30pm: Rehearsal with TSO and Simon Halsey

Saturday 11 Apr, 1:30pm – 4:30pm: Rehearsal with TSO and Simon Halsey

COST

Registration for Voices en Masse 2026 is $230 per person, or $279.50 including a score. 

This includes three rehearsals with Simon Halsey at Federation Concert Hall, the Voices en Masse performance day and light refreshments.

SCORE

It is a requirement of this project that all participants have access to a score of the music, whether through TSO or sourcing their own.

Due to copyright there will not be a digital score available.

A conductor passionately leads an orchestra and a choir en masse during a live performance, with string musicians and a large group of singers projecting powerful voices in unison. The concert hall features warm lighting and acoustic paneling, enhancing the immersive musical experience for the audience.

OPEN TO ALL

Voices en Masse is a chance to add your voice to the collective and sing to foster community, joy and unity. We think all singers should have the opportunity to experience this. If you have a passion for singing and a desire to be part of something bigger, we welcome you!

There are no auditions required, but please take note of the following before signing up;

  • You must be over 16 years of age to register. If you are under the age of 18 you must have a guardian accompany you.
  • The ability to follow a music score and a basic understanding of musical terms will be an advantage however is not essential.
  • We strongly encourage you to practice and prepare ahead of the first rehearsal to get the most out of your experience! Links to recommended learning tools to help you practice at home will be made available to you when you register.
  • Knowledge of your voice type ie soprano, alto, tenor, bass is also an advantage.
