St Lukes Symphony on the Waterfront will be held on February 8 2025 in Devonport's beautiful Haines Park on the Mersey River.
More than 5000 people are expected to register for the free event, which follows on from the success of Symphony on the Waterfront in 2023. Tickets will become available in January via the TSO website. Sign up to be notified via the event page.
The 2023 Symphony on the Waterfront was named Community Event of the Year at the 2024 Devonport Australia Day Awards.
Devonport Mayor Alison Jarman said the February event promises another unforgettable evening of world-class music, showcasing Devonport's vibrant culture.
'We are absolutely thrilled to host the St Lukes Symphony on the Waterfront once again,” she said. “This event is a flagship cultural experience for Devonport, drawing visitors from across Tasmania and beyond. It not only highlights our award-winning Haines Park but also reflects our commitment to providing enriching and accessible cultural opportunities for our community.'
Tasmanian not-for-profit health insurer St Lukes is the principal sponsor of the event. Head of Customer Service Kate Denmen welcomed the opportunity to help bring the event to the community.
'We’ve had such a great response to TSO concerts hosted in our wellness hubs, so we’re thrilled to help bring this symphony to the Devonport waterfront,' she said.
'Music is so beneficial in the way it lifts our wellbeing and brings us together for moments of community connectedness – both of which are key to our vision of making Tasmania the healthiest island on the planet.'
Caroline Sharpen, CEO of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra said the orchestra was excited to return to Devonport, adding that the 2023 event created unforgettable experiences for both the musicians and the audience.
'We are so pleased to be returning to Devonport in February for Symphony on the Waterfront. Last year’s event was such a highlight for us - and how marvellous for it to have been named Community Event of the year at Devonport’s Australia Day Awards,' Ms Sharpen said.
Although it’s a free concert, attendees will need to book online via the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra website. Tickets will become available in January 2025. Head to the event page on the TSO website for more information and to sign up to be notified when tickets become available.
