Farewell John Panckridge and Stef Farrands

Farewell John

After 37 years as Tutti Bassoon we bid a fond, yet sad farewell to John Panckridge in July. John has been a dedicated and well-loved member of the TSO during his time and will also be missed by all. To see John play in his final concert with the TSO please enjoy the Brahms and Mozart Highlights on ABC iView.

John said the following about his time with the TSO;

“37 years is indeed an orchestral lifetime and I feel so blessed to have enjoyed a musical career in the company of this wonderful group of musicians"

We look forward to staying in touch with John and seeing what he gets up to in retirement.

Farewell Stef

We sadly bid farewell to Principal Viola, Stefanie Farrands in May. Stefanie (Stef) has taken up the coveted role of Principal Viola with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Stef has been a wonderful influence at the TSO, both as section Principal and soloist. She will be greatly missed by our musicians, staff and audiences.

Reflecting on her time at the TSO, Stef said;

I adore the TSO. The orchestra and all the wonderful people in it have given me so many beautiful memories which I will cherish for a lifetime. Playing in the TSO has taught me so much and helped mould me into the musician and person I am. Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful opportunities, concerts, friendships and adventures. The orchestra and our beautiful Island are a big part of my life, and I can’t wait to come back and visit as often as I can.”

We wish Stef every success in her new role and look forward to welcoming her back to the TSO concert stage as a guest in the future.
