THE AVIVA SCHOLARSHIP
FOR ORCHESTRAL BRASS
A big congratulations to the first recipients of the Aviva Scholarship for Orchestral Brass.
Established in memory of Aviva Orgad, mother of TSO Principal Trumpet Yoram Levy, this scholarship represents Aviva’s love of people, music, and contribution to her community.
Trumpet student Zachary Allen (aged 13) from Hobart and Launceston trombone student Nicholas Lord (aged 15) will each receive ten lessons during 2020 from the designated TSO tutor for their instrument; Yoram Levy TSO Principal Trumpet and David Robins TSO Acting Principal Trombone. The Aviva Scholarship is intended as an enrichment opportunity and the lessons will take place in addition to the students’ studies with their current teachers.
One scholarship will be awarded each year to a student aged 21 and under, residing in Tasmania, who has attained the level of AMEB Grade 6 (or equivalent) and above on one of the following instruments: horn, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone or tuba.
The successful applicant will receive ten lessons from the applicable TSO tutor for their instrument. The lessons are intended as an enrichment opportunity in addition to the student’s musical studies, not as a replacement.
Participating tutors include Greg Stephens horn, Yoram Levy trumpet, David Robins trombone, Mitchell Nissen bass trombone and Tim Jones tuba.
