Centenary Of Armistice Day

Choral Productions Tasmania Inc. – the Lincoln Singers, Southern Voices and Men in Black – together with the Australian Army Band (Tasmania Division) present this ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ event. Guest performers will include Nicole Simms Farrow and Scott Farrow from our music theatre scene (currently starring in ‘Sweeney Todd’ at the Playhouse Theatre), Australian bush poet Phil Rush, Tasmanian composer Garry Paige with his ‘In a Field in France’ (the story of his great-great uncle who died in WW1), and MC John X!

The concert will feature songs of love, loss, leaving and homecoming, including Eric Bogle’s ‘And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda’, the evergreen ‘Keep the Home Fires Burning’ and the beautiful New Zealand song ‘Now Is the Hour’ (in English and Maori), sung on the wharves in New Zealand to farewell the soldiers in 1915.
