Rock Hopping

Maria Grenfell was born in 1969 in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia and grew up in Christchurch, New Zealand. After graduating from university, Maria travelled to the United States of America (USA) where she studied with many outstanding composers and gained both a Master of Arts degree and a Doctorate.

Maria has written works for orchestra as well as chamber ensembles and many of her works have been awarded prizes in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

Maria moved to Australia in 1998 and lives in Hobart, Tasmania where she is an Associate Professor at the University of Tasmania Conservatorium of Music.
