The Ugly Sound

Commissioned for performance by the Mini TSO education ensemble in 2016, The Ugly Sound is a narrated musical retelling of the Hans Christian Andersen literary fairy tale The Ugly Duckling.

Composed and written by Brisbane-based composer Gordon Hamilton with co-author Tali Kellam-PearsonThe Ugly Sound explores Wellbeing themes of social exclusion and bullying in a touching story and delightful musical score.

The recording features Tasmanian actor Bryony Geeves as narrator, and the Mini TSO Ensemble conducted by Greg Stephens. The animation competition will require the recording be used, in its entirety and unaltered in any way, as the soundtrack.
