Mozart’s deep love for the clarinet – its tone colours, differentiated registers and singing qualities – informed his Clarinet Quintet, which remains one of the best-loved works in the chamber music repertory. It is prefaced by Concord, a brand-new work for the same combination of instruments by Australian composer Carl Vine. Co-commissioned by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Concord receives its Tasmanian première in this concert.
