Strauss Horn Concerto

Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto is indisputably one of the great Romantic works for violin and orchestra. Hear it performed by Grace Clifford, a young Australian musician building an enviable reputation here and overseas. On the subject of budding Australian talent, the concert includes Centrifuge, a new work by composer Holly Harrison, who has worked closely with the TSO in recent years and knows the orchestra inside out.

The concert is bookended by works by Grieg: the delicate Lyric Pieces and the more extrovert Norwegian Dances. Conductor Eivind Aadland has a deep familiarity with the music of fellow Norwegian Grieg and is attuned to its flourishes, nuances and beauties.
