What time does the concert begin/end?

Gates will open at 3.30pm. Music starts at 7pm and will end at approximately 9.15pm. Please note that the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra will perform from 6pm on the main stage.

Do I need a ticket?

Yes. The event is free of charge but tickets are required and will be scanned on entry. A maximum of 10 tickets can be obtained in one transaction.

Tickets are available online at tso.com.au. When you order your ticket online, you will have the delivery option to “Print-at-Home”. Print-at-home tickets can either be presented as hard copies at the gate or displayed on a phone with the QR code clearly visible.

Tickets can also be obtained in person from the TSO Box Office, open Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm (1800 001 190). Please note that if you order your ticket(s) over the phone, they must be collected from the TSO Box Office, Hotel Grand Chancellor, 1 Davey St.

How do I enter the Gardens?

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens will be closed until 3.30pm on Saturday 16 February for RACT Symphony under the Stars. The only entry point will be the main gate on Lower Domain Road (near the entry to the Herb Garden). Gates will open at 3.30pm.

Is parking available close to the venue?

Yes, ample parking will be available. Full details, including a map, will be released in January 2019.

Can I bring food and drink to the event?

Please do! Feel free to bring along a picnic and drinks (alcohol is permitted).

There will be a barbecue sausage stall operated by Lindisfarne Rotary. Hamlet Coffee, Que Sera Sera Coffee and Fine Drop Wines will be on site serving drinks.

Please note that metal cutlery and glassware is not permitted.

Will drinking water be available?

Yes, there will be access to drinking water (and sunscreen!) at the Gardens.

What toilets are on site?

Extensive portable toilet facilities will be available.

Is it safe for children to attend?

Certainly! RACT Symphony under the Stars is a family-friendly event and suitable for even the youngest of family members.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I bring my dog?

No pets are allowed at RACT Symphony under the Stars, only accredited assistance animals such as Guide Dogs.

Can I bring a shade tent / chairs?

Feel free to bring your picnic blanket, beanbag, cushion or a camp chair. No marquees or tents are allowed.

What if it rains?

A decision on the weather conditions will be made on the morning of the event. If the event is cancelled, it will be publicised on the TSO website, TSO Facebook page and via ABC local radio.

1. Why have you moved to the RTBG this year?
We are making a change this year to provide increased access to more areas of Greater Hobart and to enable more people to experience RACT Symphony under the Stars.

2. Why do I need a ticket this year?
We have introduced ticketing in order to accurately measure attendance at the event. This enables us to provide adequate facilities, manage our safety measures and to better communicate with our audience. RACT Symphony under the Stars will remain a FREE event.
