Livestream Event | The Red Violin

Thursday 7 May 2026 6pm
Rory Spence Lecture Theatre, Launceston

Corigliano The Red Violin, Chaconne
Shostakovich Symphony No 1 in F minor, Op 10

In The Red Violin (1998), Samuel L Jackson plays an auction appraiser who discovers the mysterious history of a 300-year-old violin. Hear the score performed by Emma McGrath (her violin is not red).

In collaboration with the University of Tasmania’s Burnie campus, we’re bringing you a series of livestreamed concerts. It’s an accessible, relaxed way to experience the orchestra.

The Red Violin is part of our 6pm Series – hour-long concerts packed with interesting music and soloists, with banter and insights from host and TSO musician Will Newbery.
