Wendy Page was born in Darwin and grew up in Derby in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, and Narrogin, south-east of Perth. It was in Narrogin that she began her formal music education, commencing with the piano. She later took up the euphonium and began horn studies at the age of 16. She completed her Bachelor of Music at the School of Music, University of Western Australia, studying modern horn with Heidi Kepper and Classical and Baroque horn with Darryl Poulson. In her final year of study she was appointed Associate Principal Horn of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) and was appointed Principal Horn of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in 2002. Her solo engagements with the TSO have included the Concertstück for Four Horns (which she has also performed with WASO) and Adagio and Allegro by Schumann, Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, Haydn’s Horn Concerto No 2, Mozart’s Horn Concerto No 4 and Richard Strauss’s Horn Concerto No 1. As well as playing the modern valve horn, she has a special interest in the Classical hand horn. In addition to her orchestral career, she is active as a chamber musician and educator. She is a horn tutor at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music.
