Ji Won Kim has performed throughout Australia and overseas under the direction of conductors such as James Judd, Luke Dollman, Vladimir Verbitsky, John Hopkins, Nicholas Milton and Vakhtang Jordania. She has appeared with many of Australia’s orchestras including the Melbourne, Adelaide and Queensland Symphony Orchestras, Sydney Symphony and the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra. Elsewhere she has performed with the Janáček and Swietokrzyska Philharmonic Orchestras, Seoul Prime Orchestra, Anton Bruckner University Orchestra, Daegu Symphony Orchestra and the Taipei Youth Orchestra.
She has performed in recital in Seoul, Vienna, Melbourne and Sydney, and participated in music festivals in Salzburg, New York, Tokyo, Sion and Tel Aviv.
Ji Won Kim began her musical studies at the age of four and attended the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School and Caulfield Grammar School. At 16 she entered the Vienna Hochschule and obtained a Bachelor of Music with high distinction. In 2008 she completed a Master of Music with high distinction under the guidance of Nelli Shkolnikova at the University of Melbourne. She is currently a student of Alice Waten at the Sydney Conservatorium. She is a recipient of the Henderson Postgraduate Scholarship, Henderson Travelling Scholarship and the Nelly Apt Scholarship.
In 2009 Ji Won Kim was named the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year following a performance of the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. She has also won the 12th International Johannes Brahms Competition (2005), Hephzibah Menuhin Memorial Award (2007), Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition (2008) and the Sydney Conservatorium Concerto Competition (2009).
