War Correspondent

Tenor and composer David Hobson is one of Australia’s best known operatic, concert and stage performers, with a repertoire that spans the gamut of musical styles from Baroque through to Pop. He made his name with Opera Australia for his award-winning performance as Rodolfo in La bohème, directed by Baz Luhrmann. He has gone on to become a well-regarded classical performer, most recently a music theatre leading man starring in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,and a frequent television performer on shows such as Carols By Candlelight, Carols in The Domain, Spicks and Specks, Dancing With the Stars and a presenter on Foxtel’s arts and entertainment channel, Studio. Much in demand as a concert performer and recitalist, he has performed for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and sung at the AFL Grand Final. He is a major recording artist and has had many albums reach No 1 in the charts. His CD French & Italian Arias was recorded with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and conductor Marco Guidarini. His awards include Operatic Performer of the Year, the Sydney Critics Circle Award, The Age Performing Arts Award (for Best Performer in Opera) and an Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) Award.
