About the Program

‘The Ice Suite’ was conceived by composer Karena Wynn-Moylan to be performed on the 100^th anniversary of the death of ill-fated Antarctic explorer Robert Falcon Scott and is a combination of live musical performance, programmed composition, spoken word and dramatic imagery from the original diaries of Scott and his men. Digital artist Grayson Cooke creates a form of filmic poetry that combines seamlessly with the twin violin and violin/cello attack from Ken Naughton and Cye Wood while Karena Wynn-Moylan’s haunting words evoke the internal conflict and endless mental dialogue of Scott’s
last days while her programmed digital backdrops provide the perfect bedrock to the improvisation of the other three members. The Ice Suite is a deeply moving insight into the character of the men who dared to brave the most extreme places on the earth – not to be missed.
