Finishing Schubert – Marko Letonja & the TSO Horns

2:30pm Friday 8 Feb 2013 | Venues

SCHUBERT Symphony in B minor, Unfinished

SCHUMANN Concertstuck for Four Horns

For a man who died at such a young age, Franz Schubert wrote an astonishing quantity of music. That said, he didn’t get around to finishing it all. In Rendering, Luciano Berio picks up where Schubert left off. An act of homage from one composer to another, Rendering brings to life Schubert’s final sketches as orchestrated by Berio. Fresh yet familiar, the music is otherworldly and alluring. Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony is one of his best-loved works while the Concertstück by Robert Schumann showcases the amazing talents of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s horn section. Complimentary afternoon tea will be served at interval at this special matinee concert.
