Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra
Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra
Orchestra TSO

Adopted by TSO Board on 19 December 2001

The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra collects personal data from customers who wish to volunteer such data. This information includes names, addresses, attendance history, phone number, e-mail address and seating preference details.

Such information is used by the TSO to improve the level of service and satisfaction it provides to its customers and to reduce the costs associated with marketing its products and services. In addition to providing marketing information, having this information available allows the TSO to notify patrons with tickets to particular concerts of changes to programs, cancellations, changes of artist and other such details.

TSO customer data is collected and stored on the TSO’s Box Office Ticketing System. Access to the system is limited to authorised staff, through use of secure hardware locations and password security access to software.

TSO customer data is not distributed to third parties other than for the purpose of preparing direct mail-outs. Such work is generally undertaken by a professional mailing house. The TSO has a guarantee from its service provider that all information provided for such mail-outs is secured and destroyed once used.

From time to time, the TSO may choose to forward information from other organisations which it reasonably feels may be of interest to its patrons; however it will make it clear to customers that the information is coming from the TSO and not directly from the other organisation.

Any TSO customer who does not wish to receive direct marketing information may make such a request to the TSO, and the request will be complied with as soon as practicable. No charge will be levied on customers making such a request.

The TSO shall include contact details on all direct marketing communications.

Wherever practicable, a message such as "If you do not wish to receive further marketing material from the TSO, please call our Box Office on 1800 001 190." will be added to all direct marketing communications.

Information is kept up to date by encouraging patrons to contact us with updated information (such as changes of address).

Under the Act, patrons have the right to obtain a copy of any personal information which the TSO holds about them and to advise the TSO of any perceived inaccuracy. The legislation sets out some exceptions to this.

Any request for information must be in writing. Patrons making a request will need to verify their identity and to specify what information is required.
